I have played poker a lot over the years. I mean a lot. I used to be pretty good at it. Good enough to consider giving up work at one point.
However, I decided I was better off dedicating myself to a real career which would be stable and stand me in good stead for the rest of my life. Plus, I was getting bored too. It was becoming formulaic and felt like a job.
In retrospect, I don’t think I should have given poker up. I think I could have made a decent income from it, even as side income. And it probably got boring because I kept on playing at low stakes.
I have decided to give it a go again.
The aim will be to build-up a decent bankroll so that I can enter sizable tournaments. Ones that have a very good payout if successful ($10,000 or more).
With the aim in mind, I have come up with the following objectives:
- Develop short-stack and final table skills by playing “Sit and Go” tournaments
- Develop deep stack skills by playing cash games
- Play one big tournament for 5% of my bankroll every week
My starting bankroll is $70.25. It’s from a PokerStars account that I have left over from a few years ago.
Here I go….
